To reach the temple, you climb 460 stone steps from the bottom of the hill. People believe that if they perform a special ceremony called Satyanarayana Vratam here, their wishes will come true.
The temple was built in 1891 by Raja Ramanarayana, who was the leader of some lands at that time. He dreamed that a god told him to build the temple, so he did. The temple was rebuilt in 1933-34 and again in 2011-2012. Long ago, Sri Krishnadevaraya, a king, used secret passages in these hills for battles. Alluri Seetharama Raju, who fought against British rule, also hid in these hills.
The main temple looks like a chariot with four wheels. There’s a special building in front called kalyana mantapa. The main gods in the temple are Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy and Goddess Ananta Lakshmi Satyavathi Devi.
