Daulatpur is mostly a stopover town, with plenty of beautiful nature and sights nearby. There aren’t many things to do in the city itself. But there’s a well-known Kali Temple that people from nearby areas also visit to pray.

The big storm hit Manikganj District in Bangladesh on April 26, 1989, around 12:30 PM. It started near Daulatpur and moved east, hitting Saturia and causing a lot of damage in an area of 150 square kilometers (58 square miles). The storm’s path was about 80 kilometers (50 miles) long and 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) wide. The World Meteorological Organization said it was an F3 storm on the Fujita Scale, but the wind speed was estimated to be between 338 to 418 kilometers per hour (210 to 260 miles per hour), which would make it an F4 storm.

About 1,300 people died, and 12,000 got hurt. Lots of trees were pulled out of the ground, and every house in a six square kilometer area where the tornado went was wrecked.
